Deterioration investigation of reinforced concrete buildings in Hashima of Nagasaki prefecture

[Refereed] In September and November 2020, the JCI Technical Committee conducted a building survey on Hashima, Nagasaki Prefecture (commonly known as Gunkanjima) (JCI: Committee for Concrete Structures in Danger, Chairman, Professor Mitsuho Iwanami, Tokyo Institute of Technology. ). This report reports on the results of the investigation of the state of deterioration of two buildings, Building Nos. 48 and 65, and examines the problems of the deterioration judgment index used in this investigation. In addition to the conventional visual inspection, hammering inspection was also carried out, and the result of an attempt to determine the corrosion state of reinforcing bars in the member from the voids in the concrete caused by corrosion is reported.
