    概要:Magnetorheological (MR) fluid is a functional material that responds to an applied magnetic field with a change in rheological behavior. The essential characteristic of this fluid is its ability to reversibly change from free-flowing, linear viscous liquid to semi-solid, which has controllable yield strength in milliseconds when exposed to a magnetic field. The MR fluid can, therefore, play an important role in the controllable vibration damper. In this paper, based on the experimental data, an improved mechanical model for MR damper is developed and confirmed by one degree of freedom vibration system. The model consists of a hysteresis part and a variable viscous damper proportional to the added voltage. In addition, numerical simulation are performed when the MR damper is used in the ground vehicles as a part of suspension system, while the MR damper is considered in two-stage state and on-off state. The results show that, as a controllable damper, MR damper is very effective for vibration isolation of the vehicle body acceleration and suspension travel, both in on-off state and two-stage state.

    概要:This paper proposes a dynamic vibration absorber with a differential pulley for a shorter elongation of spring. The spring of this dynamic vibration absorber is connected to the inner radius of differential pulley and a rope is wound around the outer radius of it. This mechanism makes the elongation of spring shorter than the stroke of absorber mass. By using this mechanism we can make a compact dynamic vibration absorber, and it is easy to install it to the real system. This dynamic vibration absorber was applied to a pendulum, which was a simple model of a ropeway carrier, and experiments were conducted to validate theoretical results. The optimal damping coefficient and frequency ratio of the dynamic vibration absorber for free vibration were derived analytically and these values were used to computer simulation and experiment. Their agreement of both of them was good in general. Furthermore, power spectrum of wind velocity proposed by Davenport was used to simulate the time history of natural wind velocity and the effect of this new device was evaluated experimentally.

    概要:As a controllable damper, magnetorheological(MR) damper can play an important role in the vibration control system, especially as a semi-active control device. In this paper, an experimental setup has been made for investigating the characteristic of MR damper and analyzing its vibration isolation characteristics. The analytical model that consists of a hysteresis part and a variable viscous damper proportional to the added voltage is used to describe the performance of a MR damper. Two on-off damper control policies based on the product of relative velocity and relative displacement are proposed. The numerical simulation and experiment are performed to investigate the effects of the two kinds of on-off dampers and conventional on-off damper in the single-degree-of-freedom system. The results show that on-off dampers express the better vibration performance than the uncontrolled MR damper, two proposed on-off dampers have the better vibration performance in the high frequency domian than that of conventional on-off damper, and the controllable MR damper is very effective for vibration control.

    概要:The active-passive hybrid electrical circuit with piezoelectric elements was investigated to suppress the vibration of beam. In order to apply passive vibration control and actie vibration control on the beam simultaneously, the concurrent sensing and actuating piezoelectric elements were used. For the passive control, the optimal resistance was used which have the advantage of stable, fail-safe, without power requirement. For active control, the velocity feedback control was used. Based on the hybrid control method, the passive control circuit and the active control circuit can be combined on the same control circuit. Due to the optimal resistance in the hybrid control circuit, the system must have the phase lag. To improve the system performance, a phase-lead compensator was employed. This paper demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that the hybrid control has the advantages of both passive and active control systems.

    概要:Semi-active on-off damper can achieve a good performance close to that of an active control damper with much lower cost and complexity. However, the acceleration response of an on-off damper exhibits discontinuities at the time of switching, thus a significant jerk may be experienced by the system mass. In this study, based on analysis of present semi-active on-off damper, two types of new "on-off" dampers with the variable damping coefficient, which can improve significantly discontinuties at the time of switching, were developed. The time rate of change of damping force and jerk on mass(the time rate of change of acceleration)were investigated and used to evaluate the smooth degree of the damping force and the acceleration. The vibration performance was compared with that of conventional semi-active system. The result shows that the new types of on-off dampers can improved the vibration performance in the high frequency ranges.

    概要:This paper describes a fundamental study on passive control of sound power radiated into a free field. A model analyzed here consists of a primary point source and a passive additional point source. The primary source radiates a pure tone with a constant volume velocity and the additional source responds acoustically to the applied sound pressure radiated from the primary source. The relation between acoustic impedance of the passive source and the total sound power radiated is analytically obtained. The optimal values of the acoustic impedance of a passive source to minimize and to maximize the total sound power radiated are derived as functions of a product of a wavenumber and a distance between the sources. It is theoretically shown that the passive approach can achieve the equal reduction in sound power with an active control approach. The minimum and maximum values of the sound power under the condition of constant internal loss of a passive source are also derived. A sound tube is studied as an example of passive sources, and its optimal design for the minimization of the sound power is obtained.

    概要:A general design method for vibratin suppression of beam by piezoelectric elements was theoretically analyzed based on mode analysis with assumption that piezoelectric element was thin enough and did not change the mode shape of the beam. By this method, the vibration suppression of beam could be designed by an electric circuit, resistor, condenser and coil, shunted to piezoelectric elements. As an example, a calculation for a cantilever beam was carried out and verified by experiment. In a case of resistor shunted circuit, the device coupling coefficient and modal optimal tuning of resistor was discussed. In general, a high vibration suppression was given by a large device coupling coefficient, which was a function of a material coupling coefficient and a structure of the piezoelectric element.

    概要:In this paper, a new method was proposed to theoretically analyze the forces on the toe, ankle and knee joint using a musculoskeletal model of lower limb. It was shown that the maximum force on the knee joint when a human jump down vertically from a height of 0.3 meter could come up to 11.2 times of his weight without an active movement of shock absorbing. Moreover, the optimal movement of lower limb muscle during a vertical landing on a hard surface was proposed to be solved by converting the multi dimentional and monlinear optimal control problem to a parameter optimazation problem. Detail investigations were performed in three cases when minimize the forces on the toe, on the ankle and on the knee joint, respectively. By using this optimal movement, it is possible to reduce the forces on the toe and knee joint by half. It was made clear from the optimization result that it is more appropiate to use the forces on the toe as an object function. Furthermore, it was found that the force on the toe and the activation level of lower limb muscle predicted by parameter optimization agreed well with the experimental results.

    概要:In this paper, a new mechanical model for studying the shock-absorption mechanism of lower limbs is proposed. In this model the mass of the human leg is taken into consideration and the plantar elasticity is regarded as a nonlinear spring. Force and acceleration when a human jumps down from a height are measured using a force plate and an accelerometer. Through comparison of the theoretical and experimental results, this new mechanical model is confirmed to be appropriate for numerical simulation of the force on the toe and the acceleration on the waist during vertical jumping down. Furthermore, the effect of the legs' inertia upon the force on the toe and the acceleration on the waist is investigated for the cases of consideration of and neglecting the inertia of the legs. It is found that in the case of consideration of the mass of the legs, the model is suitable for quantitative estimation of the force on the toe and acceleration on the waist; whereas in the csse of neglecting the mass of the legs, the model is suitable for qualitative study of the shock absorbing mechanism.

    概要:The shock-absorbing mechanism to minimize the vertical acceleration when jumping down onto a hard surface was investigated. The dynamic model of a human leg was built with a link joint. The muscle model consisted of a contractile element, a elastic element and a viscous element. The equivalent linear spring constant and equivalent linear damping coefficient decreased upon lowering of the hip by varying the bending angles of the ankle and knee. The numerical results showed that shock could be absorbed passively by deep bending, and to a greater degree actively in the same bending position.

    概要:The forces and moments in the wrist and the elbow which are induced by striking a tennis ball were theoretically investigated. A dynamic model of a ball, racket and arm was simulated by two masses, a beam and two rigid bodies connected by springs. The modes of vibration and impulse response were calculated. The forces can be decreased by setting the striking point such that the translational and rotational movements at the grip cancel each other. The component of force with high frequency can be reduced by coinciding the striking point with the nodal point of the racket and by matching the natural frequency of the ball with that of the racket.

    概要:The vibration of a rotating elastic disk subjected to base excitation is theoretically analyzed. Formulation of the steady-state response to harmonic excitation is derived as an eigenfunction series where the eigenfunctions are given in the form of rotating waves. It is presented that a parallel motion to the axis excites only the axisymmetric modes. It is also shown that a tilting motion around an arbitrary diameter excites the forward and backward rotating modes whose circumferential wavenumbers are one. The Doppler's effect and the coupling effect between the inertia force and the Coriolis force are discussed. The response curves and the vibratory modes of the rotating disk are studied in detail. It is shown that the standing waves fixed in space can be formed. The relation between the excitation frequency and the configuration of the vibratory modes is also presented.

    概要:Relationship between the structure of a tennis racket and the restitution of a ball is investigated theoretically by modal analysis and the substructure synthesis method. The racket and the ball are modeled by a beam and two masses, respectively, and they are connected by a spring. Since there is a mode of vibration which has a high value of restitution, the racket must be designed such that this mode becomes significant. For the high value of restitution, the gravity center of racket and the nodal points of modes should be close to the striking point. The natural frequency of the racket must coincide with that of the ball. The strings must be soft and the bending rigidity must be high.

    概要:The stability of a rotating elastic disk with a stationary restraint, such as a computer memory disk with a magnetic head, is theoretically analyzed taking account of damping. The Nyquist stability criterion is applied, and exact expressions of stability boundaries in a mass-stiffness plane are derived. The relation between the vector locus of the receptance of the rotating disk and the stability boundaries is discussed. For the restraint of a single degree of freedom, the minimum critical mass and the minimum critical stiffness are introduced so that a stable system may be designed, and the effects of the rotation speed and the viscous damping of the disk on these values are discussed. It is found that the damping of the restraint generally destabilizes the system, and that the addition of the damping to the disk can stabilize the system.

    概要:The stability of a rotating elastic disk with a stationary restraint, such as a computer memory disk with a magnetic head, is theoretically analyzed in the case where there is no damping. A graphical stability criterion for an undamped system is presented, and exact expressions of stability boundaries in a mass-stiffness plane are derived. It is clarified that a static instability region exists just above each critical speed of the disk and that a dynamic instability region exists in the vicinity of each speed where a curve with negative modal parameters intersects a curve with positive modal parameters in Campbell's diagram. For the restraint of a single degree of freedom, the minimum critical mass and the minimum critical stiffness are introduced so that a stable system may be designed, and the effects of the rotation speed on these values are discussed.

    概要:This paper describes a theoretical study of active control of blade rotational noise radiated from an axial flow fan when using a secondary source which consists of several point sources. The primary source analyzed here is a circular multipole source in phase rotation. Additional point sources are arranged on a concentric circle at regular intervals. The optimal strength of the secondary source and minimum sound power output are deduced. The characteristics of total power radiated from both sources are discussed by means of numerical analysis, and attenuation in total power is also investigated. It is found that significant attenuation can be achieved if the phase velocities of the sources are lower than the sound speed. The effect of the radial distribution of the circular source on the attenuation in total power is examined, and is found to be almost negligible.

    概要:Skiers control their stability by pumping their bodies up and down. The dynamic model of a skier traversing an undulant snowy surface was formulated in order to investigate the mechanism of a pumping strategy to minimize the vertical acceleration. A mechanical model of legs was built with a link joint. The muscle was modeled by a contractile element, a series of elastic elements and a damping element. By numerical calculations, the strategies to avoid the separation of the feet from the snowy surface were investigated. The stiffness of the leg is softened by bending the knee ; consequently, the shock can be absorbed passively by deep bending. Up-pumping first increases the pressure against the snowy surface and then decreases it, and down-pumping induces the opposite effect. The shock is also reduced actively by pumping.

    概要:This paper is concerned with the problem of active attenuation of periodic low-frequency noise in a room. A system utilizing the signal from a reference microphone and a synchronous signal from a noise source has been developed. The results show that the adaptive scheme can cope with variations in noise characteristics, and that the controller compensates the nonlinear distortion of the secondary source to achieve optimum attenuation. It is also found that the synchronous average of the reference signal suppresses the influence of other sounds such as conversation to maintain optimum attenuation.

    概要:The noise from thin gears is dominated by the vibration in an axial direction of gears. This paper presents a method for analyzing the coupled vibration of a rotating gear pair. The vibration of each dear is expressed as a series of the eigenfunctions which are given in the form of rotating waves. The frequency equation is derived from Mindlin's plate theory by using the receptance method. The analysis indicates that vibration modes of the rotating gear pair are fixed in space. Some numerical examples are presented, and the experimental results are shown to be in good agreement with the theoretical ones.

    概要:The vibration of a rotating disk restrained at a space-fixed point, such as a computer memory disk with a magenetic head, is theoretically analyzed. The frequency equation is derived by using the receptance method. The natural frequencies and the vibratory modes are discussed for the rotation speeds below the critical speed. The analysis indicates that the phenomenon of"curve veering"for a frequency-speed diagram is observed for the restraint with high receptance, and that"quasi-standing waves"are formed for the restraint with low.

    概要:In this paper, the optimal tuning of the natural frequency and a damping of a cantilever-type absorber which is set on a railway wheel is derived. An index, the equivalent mass ratio, with which the effectiveness of an absorber can be easily estimated and evaluated, is defined. It is found that the cantilever-type dynamic absorber can be more effective that a conventional dynamic absorber with one degree of freedom. When N absorbers are set on a wheel and N/2 is different from the number of nodal diameters, the effectiveness of the vibration reduction dose not decrease even though the wheel is rotating.

    概要:Cantilever-type dynamic vibration absorbers apply not only a force but also a moment to a main vibratory system. The vibration response of the main system with this type of absorber is analyzed using receptance matrices. By analogy with a conventional absorber of one degree of freedom, a method of optimal tuning of the natural frequency and damping of the absorber is derived. An index, the equivalent mass ratio which shows the effectiveness of the absorber, is defined. Numerical calculation and experimentation are carried out, and their results suggest that the cantilever-type absorber can be more effective than the conventional absorber.

    概要:The steady-state response of a rotating disk to a concentrated harmonic force at a space-fixed point is analyzed. The eigenfunctions are proved to be orthonormal, and formulation of the response is derived as an eigenfunction series. It is proposed that the eigenfunctions are given in the form of rotating waves, and the resonant frequencies and vibratory modes are discussed. Resonance occurs when. the exciting frequency coincides with one of the natural frequencies observed in the space-fixed coordinates. If two of the natural frequencies coincides with each other, the resonant mode that may be called "a quasi-standing wave" is formed in the space-fixed coordinates.

    概要:The lateral vibration of a wheel with cantilever-type dynamic dampers is analyzed theoretically by making use of the modal analysis and the receptance method. The damper is assumed to have two degrees of freedom ; rotation and translation. Consequently, a moment and a lateral force acted between the damper and the wheel. The following results have been obtained by numerical calculations. When the damper is set such that the free end faces to the out side, the force and the moment act to reduce the vibration. When the mass of the damper is l/100 of that of the wheel and the length of the cantilever is l/5 of the wheel's radius, the vibration can be reduced significantly.

    概要:動力循環式チェーン試験装置を用いて,ローラチェーンの騒音の発生機構を調べた。まず,音圧分布とローラ,リンクプレート,スプロケットの各方向振動加速度を測定した。その結果,騒音はかみあい点近傍ではローラ,少し離れるとスプロケットの軸方向屈曲振動に起因することがわかった。なお,これらは高周波域にある。また,低周波域にあるかみあい周波数も騒音に現れる。さらに,ローラの屈曲振動の理論解析も行った。

    概要:鉄道騒音において重要なものは,車輪とレールの干渉によって生じる車輪の屈曲振動であるが,それは,車輪が厚いために薄板として解析することができず,せん断変形と回転慣性の影響を考慮する必要がある.また,新幹線車輪のような場合には,二段の厚さの円板として解析しなければならない.本論文は以上のことを考慮して車輪の屈曲振動を解析し,実験結果と一致することを見出すとともに,その特性に関して数々の知見を得た.

    概要:反発特性などのボールの動的挙動に関する十分な理解を得るため、中空ボールの力学モデルである弾性球殻の軸対称な衝撃に対する動的挙動の定式化を示した。剛体並進モードの運動エネルギーおよび振動モードの力学的エネルギーを導出し、衝撃が作用領域において一様で、時間変化に関しては正弦半波である場合について詳細に考察した。作用領域が狭いほど、衝撃時間が短いほど、衝撃による仕事のより多くが振動エネルギーとなって、並進運動の速度が遅くなることなどを理論的に明らかにした。

The modal distribution of mechanical energies resulted by the work of half-sine axial impact force distributed uniformly in limited area are discussed.

    概要:弾性球殻の平面への垂直衝突について理論解析し、接触面積を考慮した衝突応答解析法を定式化した。数値計算を行い。衝突中の中心の変位は正弦半波状の履歴を示すが作用する力は三角波状の履歴を示すこと、非線形の硬化ばね質点系としてふるまうこと、また、計算した範囲の衝突速度では衝突前の運動エネルギーが衝突中に主として等価剛性の小さいモード群の振動エネルギーとして蓄えられ、衝突終了時点でほとんど剛体運動のエネルギーに再び戻るため反発係数がほぼ1となることなどを示した。

A new approximate model of a ball is proposed taking infinite residual terms out of truncated modal series into account and the characteristics is clarified analytically, Some simplified discrete models are also investigated.

    概要:This paper describes the design method of dynamic vibration absorber for the ropeway carriers suspended to the cable considering the effect of cable vibration. The cable was modelled as lumped masses and springs. The stiffness of spring was obtained by the flexibility influence function. The cable and ropeway carrier system was represented as pendulum fixed at the fulcrum by matching the kinetic energy of multi degree system with one degree pendulum. Using the equivalent mass and length of pendulum, we designed the dynamic vibration absorber for the pendulum. Robust design showed the effect for the fluctuation of the natural frequency and the equivalent mass. Experiments of free vibration were conducted to validate the analytical model.

    概要:The excessive motion of dynamic vibration absorber is one of problems when it is applied to an actual system. If the excitation force increases, the mass of dynamic vibration absorber collides to the end of track. This shock response is undesirable to the system. In this study, we proposed a kind of two-step damping dynamic vibration absorber in order to reduce the shock. This dynamic vibration absorber is applied to the ropeway carrier which can be modelled as a pendulum. We used electro-magnetic force to realize the two-step damping dynamic absorber. This stepped-damping absorber reduces the shock when excitation force is large. When the excitation force is in a mid-range, the proposed dynamic absorber performs like the conventional dynamic absorber. Experiments of free vibration and forced vibration were conducted to show the usefulness of this mechanism.

    概要:This paper describes a study on control of sound power radiated into a free field by the use of passive sources. A model analyzed here consists of a primary point source and passive additional point sources. The primary source radiates a pure tone with a constant volume velocity. The passive sources respond acoustically to the applied sound pressure radiated from the primary source. The frequency range where the sound power effectively decreased is discussed in detail. It is found that the effective range is almost proportional to the sum of open area of the passive sources. It is also found that an appropriate amount of addition of acoustic resistance to the passive sources and appropriate difference in the acoustic reactance of the passive sources can enlarge the effective range. Some aspects of the discussion have been verified experimentally.

    概要:In this paper, vibration control of the beam by ready-made beam, spring and damper is discussed. First, the equation of motion of beam with absorber was formulated. Then, by the optimization method, the optimum natural frequency and the optimum damping ratio were calculated. We investigated the method to reduce single mode and multiple modes. An experiment with a pedestrian bridge model was carried out. In the experiment, we compared the time responses of the bridge with absorbers and without absorbers. It was showed that absorbers could reduce the vibration of the bridge effectively.

    概要:Dynamic absorber is widely used to reduce the vibration. When the exciting force increases, the dynamic absorber moves farther and collides against the track's terminal. The collision makes the effect of the absorber worse. In this study, a kind of stepped damping absorber is proposed in order to improve the bad effect of the collision. This absorber reduces the collision, and even if collision occurs, the shock will be made smaller. Experiment by making use of a pendulum was carried out to confirm the effect of the absorber with stepped damping.

    概要:This paper demonstrates the use of piezoelectric actuator bonded to the surface of a plate to reduce sound transmission. The coupled equations of motion of an elastic structure with piezoelectric elements were formulated to make the piezoelectric actuator works well. It was shown that the control authority depends on the electromechanical coupling coefficient. In the experiment, the plate vibration under a random noise excitation was suppressed well and the sound transmission was reduced effectively.

    概要:A dynamic vibration absorber for short elongation of spring is proposed in this paper. The dynamic vibration absorber contains a two stepped concentered pulley and the spring is connected not to the translating mass. but to the inner radius of pulley. and rope is wound around the outer radius of pulley. This mechanism makes the elongation of spring shorter than the stroke of absorber mass. This dynamic vibration absorber is applied to pendulum. which is a simple model of ropeway carrier and experiments are conducted to validate the theoretical result and experiment. Furthermore. the effect of this new device is evaluated when the pendulum is excited by wind force excitation by experiments.

    概要:As a controllable damper, magnetorheological (MR) damper can play an important role in the vibration control system, especially as a semi-active control device. In this paper, an experimental setup has been made for investigating the characteristic of MR damper and analyzing its vibration isolation characteristics. The analytical model of the MR damper is formulated and its parameters suitable for the experimental response is selected. The numerical simulation and experiment are performed when the MR damper is used as the soft passive damper, hard passive damper and on-off damper in the single-degree-of freedom system. The results show that the MR damper can be effective for vibration control.

    概要:This paper describes a theoretical study on control of sound power radiated into a free field by the use of additional sources. A model analyzed here consists of a primary point source and π active or passive additional point sources (π=2,3,4). The primary cource radiates a pure tone with a constant volume velocity. The passive soive sources responds acoustically to the applied sound pressure radiated from the primary source. The optimal values of the volume velocity fo active sorces and the optimul values of the acoustic impedance of passive sources to minimize the total sound power radiated are derived. It is theoretically shown for all cases that the passive approach can achieve the equal reduction in sound power with an active control approach. The effects of erros in configuration of the additional sources on sound power minimization is also discussed.

    概要:This paper discusses the control of sway of lift by a tuned liquid damper (TLD). In this study, U-shaped-pipe filled with water is used as a damper. Wind or waves are regarded as sinusoidal exciting forces with a certain frequency. The sway can be controlled by making use of anti-resonance. In order to create the anti-resonance state, phase difference between main body and water is investigated. As a result it turns out that the phase difference becomes 90 degrees or -90 degrees in the anti-resonance state depended on the gain of water. In order to confirm the theoretical results, experiments using a pendulum shaken by a slider are carried out.

    概要:A device of dynamic vibration absorber with a two-stepped sheave for short elongation of spring is proposed in this paper. The dynamic vibration absorber contains a two-stepped concentered sheave. The spring of dynamic vibration absorber is connected not to the translating mass, but to the inner radius of sheave, and string is wound around the outer radius of sheave. This mechanism makes the elongation of spring less than the stroke of absorber mass as the function of outer and inner radius of sheave, which makes easy to install dynamic vibration absorber. This dynamic vibration absorber is applied to pendulum and experiment is conducted to validate the theoretical result. The optimal damping coefficient and frequency ratio of dynamic vibration absorber for free vibration are derived analytically, and these values are used to computer simulation and experiment. The agreement of both of them is good in general.

    概要:弾性球殻に関する解析に基づいて衝撃に対するボール単体の動的挙動の特徴について述べ、中空ボールの反発特性を検討した。打具の運動エネルギーを効率よくボールに伝えて打球速度を高めるには、衝突で励起される振動を抑制する必要があり、それには広い領域でボールを受け止めること、長時間にわたって衝撃を作用させることが有効であることを示した。
