(英文) This paper examines four separate but possibly related accounts of tea-drinking culture. First, I look at studies of an evergreen broad-leaved forest culture, which is thought to have used tea plants for the first time in history. Second, I consider peoples who are thought to have invented tea-drinking. Third, I discuss an example of regional distribution of tea in the Han Dynasty, by referring to a text of that period entitled Tong yue (憧約). Finally, the paper speculates on the relationship between the Lu yu (陸羽) doll, which was modeled and named after a famous tea master in the Tang Dynasty, and a Buddhist festival called Guan Fo Hui (灌仏会).
