Summary:This paper discusses that distribution of the subjective evaluation (ex. information skills) by using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Likert Scale (LS). The subjects are 346 students (288 male and 58 female students) and in order to analyze their subjective evaluation, they are asked to answer questionnaires on VAS (172 subjects) or LS (174 subjects). On the questionnaire of "Do you good at cell-phone operation?", the result show that there exist significant difference between LS's data and VAS's data by Student's t-test (p<0.05). Otherwise, there exist no significant difference on other questionnaires between LS's data and VAS's data.
  • Heart Rate Variability Analysis (HRV) and the Subjective Evaluation by Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for Subjects Listening to 1/f Fluctuation Music and Bubbling of a Stream, WATANABE Satoshi, TSUKAMOTO Hiroyuki, MATSUMOTO Yuji, NAKAGAWA Masafumi, SHIRAHAMA Naruki, MIYAMOTO Kazunori, NAKAYA Naofumi, TOMITA Masashi, MORI Yukio, Journal of Biomedical Fuzzy Systems Association, Journal of Biomedical Fuzzy Systems Association, 16(1), 75 - 84, Apr. 25 2014
Summary:The experiment employed 8 healthy subjects. HRVs of the subjects when they listen to the 1/f fluctuation music, bubbling of a stream, "Shirakami-Sanchi", and when they do not, are recorded separately. Furthermore, in order to investigate the psychological state change, the subjects are required to answer VAS questionnaire for both cases (listening to the 1/f music or "Shirakami-Sanchi", and not). When the subjects listen to the 1/f fluctuation music, their LF/HF values are decreased. On the other hand, when the subjects listen to "Shirakami-Sanchi", their LF/HF values are increased. And the experiment result shows that there exists relationship between VAS data ("Like or Dislike") and HRV data. Therefore, the proposed method is very useful.

  • An Analysis of Information Skills for Students Based on a Visual Analog Scale, WATANABE Satoshi, MATSUMOTO Yuji, Journal of Biomedical Fuzzy Systems Association, Journal of Biomedical Fuzzy Systems Association, 13(1), 57 - 62, Jun. 30 2011
Summary:This paper discusses the analysis of information skills for students based on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The subjects were 35 undergraduate university students and 5 graduate school students and in order to analyze their information skills, they were asked to answer questionnaires on VAS and Likert Scales (LS). The results showed that there exists a high correlation between VAS and LS. The experiment data were analyzed by analysis of variance method, and the results showed the significant difference between 1st grade students and 3rd grade students. By the way, it was not clear that the different of information skills between undergraduate university students and graduate school students. VAS was shown to be an effective tool for analyzing the information skills of students.
  • P2M for the Field of Design, MATSUMOTO Yuji, Journal of International Association of Project & Program Management, Journal of International Association of Project & Program Management, 5(2), 127 - 136, Feb. 19 2011
Summary:The field of design is considered to be one to which P2M can be applied since it possesses a style of project type. However, P2M has not been executed in the field of design so far. Therefore an investigation was made by setting up tasks such as possibility of applying P2M to the field of design. It was carried out based on interviews to participants of a certain project. As a result, it concluded that there was high possibility of applying P2M to the field of design.
