    Summary:This paper proposes a robust model of multiperiod agricultural supply chain to consider both maximizing the total profit and minimizing the environmental load with random and fuzzy parameters. Our proposed model is formulated as a fuzzy and stochastic, multiobjective and multiperiod programming problem, and hence, it is hard to solve the formulated problem directly without setting a specific random distribution and a specific membership function. Therefore, a distribution-free approach based on sample mean and variance derived from received data, which does not assume any specific random distributions and membership functions, is introduced to apply our proposed model to various uncertain conditions. In addition, deterministic equivalent transformations are also introduced to obtain the optimal solution efficiently using the scenario-based approach.

    Summary:The consecutive meals planning is a combinatorial optimization problem that determines a meals plan on a long period consisting of consecutive days. A meal is characterized in different characteristics such as food style, ingredient, and cooking method. For the problem, this paper proposes an evaluation function using information entropies on moving intervals. The function measures the appearance order of meal's characteristics on the plan. In addition, we design a specific genotype of a permutation GA and apply it to this problem. In the numerical experiments, we show that the consecutive meals planning employing our function can be viewed as a multimodal problem and then show that our meals plan obtained by the permutation GA is a good solution with large variation of appearance order of meal's characteristics.

    Summary:The consecutive meals planning is a combinatorial optimization problem that determines a meals plan in one period consisting of consecutive days. In the numerical experiments, we apply a permutation GA to the problem. We show that our meals plan is a good solution with large variation of appearance order of meal’s characteristics for the consecutive meals planning.

    Summary:There are many problems in Japanese agriculture, and the most critical thing among these is a rapid decrease in the working population due to a growing proportion of elderly people. The cause of the aging in the agricultural field would be small incomes due to the low agricultural productivity. To improve the income level, the authors have developed an information sharing system of food production, marketing, and consumption, named food CMS (Contents Management System). Food CMS aims to promote proper management of food resources in the whole food supply chain. The types of users in Food CMS are farmers, customers, and distributors including retailing stores, brokers, and restaurants, so Food CMS has the capability to give benefits appropriate to the types of users. Concretely, Food CMS provides services such as the direct relationship-building between a customer and a producer, sales opportunity with e-commerce, freshness management of foods, and rationalization of the order placement and acceptance work between distributors. Since the integrated database of Food CMS can store all distribution data of foods, the data will contribute to adjusting the supply to demand and reducing the food loss. This paper shows the effort the authors have addressed, especially the functional design of Food CMS, and the performance.

    Summary:To efficiently support novice programming learners feeling programming difficult, clarifying the cause of preventing programming understanding, and developing a new teaching method appropriate for their understanding degree would be necessary. The objective of this paper is to develop a learning support system with reading source codes. This paper also aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed system from the subjective viewpoint of learners. The developed system can automatically generate a source code of C programming language in which there is no particular meaning because the source codes as learning materials are generated randomly. The developed system was utilized in a programming lecture for novice programming learners. This paper obtained student responses from a questionnaire, after the students had completed one semester of the instruction in programming, and analyzed the data. From the analysis result, it turned out that different evaluation patterns existed depending on the learner’s basic programming skill.

    Summary:Recently, interest in Japanese domestic tour has been decreasing year by year. The number of domestic trips in one year has been decreasing from 1992 to 2012. The Tourism Agency aims to promote domestic tourism for overseas people as an issue of national priority. However in Japanese sightseeing, there has been various problem in transportation. For example, there has been few information in English about not only public transportation but also bicycle/foot. Therefore most of people gather only specific typical tourism spots and famous means of transportations, and it is the cause of overcrowding on public transportations. For local residents, public transportations are irreplaceable means to move. The tourism region should improve service quality for both tourists and local residents. Concretely, developing new tourism spots and enhancing new transportation means are required. In this paper, we propose a method to distribute tourists to various kinds of transportation means by providing new tourist spots information. We develop a mobile application to enhance foot based side trip tourism, and our work aims to provide 3 kinds of benefits for improving the sustainability in tourism region: developing new tourism spots is to support regional economy, distributing transportation means is to improve regional service, and enhancing foot based tourism is to contribute global environment. The subjects we develop are the word-of-mouth information retrieval system, a mobile application, and tourist's mobile history analysis system. Additionally in this paper, we show a tourism concierge system as the future view for wholly supporting a tourist's hospitality.

    Summary:LMS (Learning Management System) based selfstudy with simple multiple-choice questions is available with no need to score by using its automatic scoring capability. However, this type of learning environment cannot help students who do not have enough learning management and self-study abilities. As a basis for constructing user adaptive learning environment, this study aims to develop an e-Learning system for supporting each one's self-study of knowledge acquisition. To improve learning activities of students who have not been enough supported, this paper focuses on the automatic learning contents delivery to each user's mobile device, and constructs an English words learning system based on multiple choice tests. By collecting all users' historical data through the operational experiment of this developed system and getting feedback of subjective evaluation from students, the effectiveness of the developed system is analyzed. From the analysis result, this paper examines practical effectiveness of item response theory for user adaptive learning contents provision because maintaining each user's motivation is considered to be important issue in the learning of knowledge acquisition, and item response theory can control the difficulty of exercises in response to each user's understanding. Based on the result of preliminary experiment, the effect of item response theory was shown between students with different learning ability. Additionally this paper gives discussion for realizing e-Learning service with learner adaptation functionality, the conceptions to evaluate each user's learning effort and to realize the learning of knowledge acquisition.

    Summary:Today's e-Learning, blending portable digital devices and common PC devices under well-maintained Internet infrastructure, provides convenient learning environment where everyone can learn when they need. In particular, self-study with simple multiple-choice questions with LMS (Learning Management System) is available with no need to score by lecturer because usual LMS implements automatic scoring capability. Since LMS is useful for both lecturers and students, in Japan it has been already accepted as being indispensable in educational institutions around universities. However, this type of learning can only support just gathering of knowledge, but not assist the improvement of the skill to leverage knowledge. Currently it has not been enough to provide e-Learning with capabilities of both knowledge acquisition and utilization, so to realize it the authors started the development of user adaptive learning service which deals with English learning. This paper focuses on the automatic delivery of learning contents for each user's mobile device, and verifies practical effectiveness of item response theory for user adaptive learning contents provision. This paper develops a server program to automatically deliver learning materials consisted of some multiple choice questions. Based on the result of preliminary experiment, for realizing e-Learning service with learner adaptation functionality, the conceptions to evaluate each user's learning effort and to realize the learning of knowledge acquisition are discussed.

    Summary:In recent years, guaranteeing the educational quality is required in university education of Japan. With this situation in mind, we built study support environment with the information technology. As a result, we utilized the result for programming education and obtained the effect. There are various technical elements in the programming skill. However, many evaluations have adopted a comprehensive evaluation method. Therefore, a student's attainment to each technical element is indefinite. Some students become difficult to perform learning activities. So, in this research, programming notes the point which is the implicit thinking skill which is strongly related in study. Accumulation experience analyzes strongly related eye movement, and we aim at the standard construction for skill.

    Summary:At present, common e-Learning systems have been designed for positive learners whose learning habits are already established to some degree. To assist students other than the positive learners, most of who has more difficulty in learning with the usual e-Learning systems, this paper focuses on a new type of e-Learning system called "push-based e-Learning". The push-based e-Learning is for learners who cannot establish study habits or take an active part in learning, and be an essential tool for supporting self-study continuity. This study realizes push service by e-mail technology of cell-phone. The system, used in conjunction with an interactive e-mail service through cell-phones, allows users to automatically receive up to some exercise e-mails a day. For our system, this paper implemented COCET 3300, a corpus of English words, and made a trial operation of our system with several university students for training English vocabulary. This paper firstly shows the detail of system configuration, and then evaluates our implementation of push-based e-Learning with the result of the trial operation. From the trial operation, the effectiveness of our system was shown by questionnaire while the result was on the students' subjective viewpoint. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

    Summary:In this paper, we develop a learning environment that combines "real lectures" and "e-Learning". We study the feasibility of user-based homework assignments by the degree of comprehension and also quantitatively evaluate the degrees of achievements for each student. Not only active students but also inactive students can get assignments through the Web. Therefore, we expect that a familiar and easy study situation can be created by developing this e-Learning environment. Our system uses the accumulated learning history and information recommendation processing based on collaborative filtering for making assignments. Thus, giving assignments to each student based on his skill level can be combined with the tendency for covering every topic of study. The result of our research considers the feasibility of content-based filtering by text mining processing towards homework assignments in future systems.

    Summary:It has been shown from case studies that the method of presuming the decision class is important for extracting the features of a product design. The method we used is the variable precision rough set model proposed by Ziarko, which can deal with the contradiction between data. Applying the idea of a contradiction between data to the contradiction of the evaluations between many subjects, we propose a new approach of presuming the decision class by the variable precision rough set model. In addition, we propose a technique, called the decision class synthesis method, to clarify the design concept of a product.     Summary:In recent years, new business models for agricultural markets have appeared. Under this perspective, we develop a new information system for urban markets to facilitate the transactions. Both sides, consumers and farmers, require certain information from markets about agricultural products. For example, consumers may make requests about the exact information of agricultural products or their safety, while farmers may want to boast with their produce. Under the considerations of such requirements at the markets, which may be conflicting, we propose a new information system to assist in the negotiation among both parties.

    Summary:This paper addresses a practical scheduling problem with perishable items as an example of food-processing industry, which has not been studied so far, and presents a scheduling method and some experimental results. This paper focuses on the problem of boiling process in a jam plant. The problem in this paper includes the constraint of perishability, which is a constraint when products are processed too much earlier than their due date, the values are going to reduce by reason of inferior quality, on the other hand, when the production is not in time for due date, the shortage of supply is going to happen. In the boiling process, setup time to change the kinds of products can be assumed as production bottleneck, so, it might be important to control setup operations for obtaining an effective management. To find a useful sequence to boil ingredients, a new management method is considered to minimize the deterioration in quality caused by the sum of earliness and tardiness. As basic study, this paper shows a general production line producing relatively small kinds of products in comparison with high-mix low-volume production line. In experiments, this paper mainly considers the possibility of variety of products corresponding to the production capacity.

    Summary:Rough set theory is considered as an effective data mining technique. In this study, we develop the base of a decision support system by using rough set theory to visualize users' preferences. This study aims at utilizing and sharing of knowledge for a large amount of information maintained in databases on the Web. We investigate an application on a Web server running Apache, MySQL (DBMS) and PHP. Here, for the ease of database administration, phpMyAdmin is installed, which is an open source tool for handling the MySQL database through a Web frontend. For the above-mentioned environment, rough sets, a technique for knowledge discovery, are applied which can derive simplified decision rules. In this study, the rough set procedures are performed in RSES2, which is a graphical toolkit for the analysis of table data running under the Microsoft Windows OS, based on methods and algorithms from rough set theory. As a specific example of decision support based on the users' desires, we address the nutrition of food menu planning problem and derive the users' preference rules by incorporating rough sets in RSES2 within the Web application. To verify the performance of our developed system, this paper includes the result of a test installation for 10 examinees.

    Summary:We have developed a well-balanced menu planning system. to supply menu, to user's taste. Mainly, the system is using fuzzy theory, mathematical programming logic and rough set theory. First, the menu set which fulfills a user's partial menu conditions out of many menu databases using fuzzy reasoning is created. Next, rough set extracts a user's taste rule. This rough set uses the information system in consideration of fuzzy weight. And a menu is proposed with mathematical programming. The proposed menu is in consideration of a users taste and nutritive values.

    Summary:We have developed a well-balanced menu planning system to supply dishes to someone's taste. The system implements fuzzy mathematical programming logic and rough set theory. The fuzzy mathematical programming is mainly used to select menu among database, and the rough set theory provides user's selection rule for menu. This paper particularly focuses the method of rough set theory with fuzzy weight. So far we have used an information system with fuzzy weights adapted to only each tuple data. This paper discusses the method that is evaluated each attribute including both of condition and decision using a fuzzy number, in order to cover all uncertainties and noises in a menu database. On rough set procedure, some invisible elements are visualized i.e., it takes notice of the visualization of nutritional information which bid behind a user's favorite. Each user's characteristic is grasped and well-balanced menus are presented for each user after filling constraints such as the affinity of cooking.

    Summary:The menu planning problem deals with determining the dishes on a menu that satisfy some nutritional constraints, preferences of an individual, cost of food, etc. while optimizing the given objective functions. Many researchers have studied "one-period" menu planning problems with linear programming. However, our focus is on a "multi-period" menu planning problem as a combinatorial optimization problem. In this paper, we propose the model of nutrition education as the objective function for this problem. Our model of nutrition education employs entropy based on the menu diversity and order of appearance for the multi-period menu. We apply an estimation of distribution algorithm (EDA) to optimize this problem and then show that our algorithm has better ability to find good solutions. © 2013 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

    Summary:プロセッサ技術のめざましい発展の一方で、2次記憶の機械的制約によるボトルネックがますます顕著になり、この問題の早急な解決が望まれている。動的配列シリンダディスク(DACYD)は、2次記憶内のデータを物理的に一定な長さで区切り利用頻度順に動的に再配列を行い、ヘッドシーク時間を短縮してコンピュータシステムの性能向上をめざすものである。ここでは、データをいくつかのアクセス頻度グループにクラス分けしておき、アクセス頻度の変動が少なく再配置後も同一グループ内にとどまるデータは再配置を省略する簡便法を提案する。この簡便法は、各グループの区間の幅を適切に設定すれば、2、3のグループ化程度で平均シーク距離をかなり短縮できるので、コスト対効果バランスの優れたデータモデルである。さらに、データ再配置操作の実行間隔の目安を明らかにし実現可能なモデルであることも示す。While CPU technology has made remarkable progress, the performance bottleneck between the main mamory and the secondary storage becomes more serious and must be solved immediately. Dynamically Arranged Cylinder Disk (DACYD) is aimed to reduce the wasteful head seek time through data rearrangement in the secondary strage. Here, instead of perfect data rearrangement, we introduce a convenient method which divides data into several access frequency groups within a disk. If the size of each group is adequately decides, this method can decrease the head seek distance effectively even through in the case of a few data gourps. Then, the necessary period between data rearrangement is showed to be equivalent to practicable I/O counts; i times of cylinder number.

    Summary:The objective of this paper is to realize a simple classification method in a rough set approach that distinguishes whether a subset can be classified in the target set or not. The algorithms of Rough Set will be used to analyze the data and in order to illustrate the method, we just use some artificial data in this paper. As its application, we discuss the aged society that should influences on policy making. The problem of aged society has become more and more severe all over the world. Almost all the countries have to face and solve this problem. In this problem the distinguish is done whether cities can be classified into an aged one or not.

    Summary:Recently, there are lifestyle-related diseases by change in Japanese eating habits. In this research, we discuss the system which used rough set and fuzzy mathematical programming. A menu is created. The menu combines some dishes. All the dishes have information, including a user's taste, a nutrient, the affinity of cooking, etc. The well-balanced menu is created by liking of a user. The rule of taste is obtained by rough-sets theory. Moreover, menu planning can be based on the fuzzy mathematical plan problem.
