    Summary:© 2017 Springer-Verlag London Ltd. The concept of the quality loss derived by Taguchi has been accepted as the evaluation measure of quality instead of the traditional attribute property such as the proportion of non-conforming items. Since the variable single sampling plan having the desired operating characteristics indexed by the quality loss was proposed in 1997, various kinds of sampling plans indexed by the quality loss have been considered. Among them, there are two kinds of rectifying variable single sampling (RVSS) plans indexed by the quality loss. In the RVSS plans, two inspection schemes called the acceptance quality loss limit (AQLL) scheme and the permissible average outgoing surplus quality loss limit (PAOSQLL) scheme have been formulated. Note that the concepts of the AQLL and PAOSQLL schemes in the RVSS plans indexed by the quality loss are equivalent to those of the lot tolerance percent defective (LTPD) and the average outgoing quality limit (AOQL) schemes in the traditional rectifying attribute single sampling plans, respectively. On the other hand, in the sampling plan having the desired operating characteristics, an attribute repetitive group sampling plan was proposed for the purpose of reducing the average sampling number in the inspection. Recently, by applying the repetitive group sampling to the rectifying variable sampling plan for the AQLL scheme, the rectifying variable repetitive group sampling (RVRGS) plan for the AQLL scheme has been considered for the purpose of reducing the average total inspection (ATI). However, the RVRGS plan for the PAOSQLL scheme has not been investigated yet. Accordingly, the RVRGS plan for the PAOSQLL scheme must be investigated to complete the RVRGS plans indexed by the quality loss. In this article, the RVRGS plan for the PAOSQLL scheme is addressed. Then, the design procedure in the RVRGS plan for the PAOSQLL scheme is proposed for the purpose of reducing ATI. Through some numerical investigations, the effectiveness to reduce ATI by the RVRGS plan for the PAOSQLL scheme is confirmed.

    Summary:<p>Negotiation procedures between a supplier and a retailer in a supply chain model including buyback contract have been studied in recent years. The negotiation procedures in the above studies have consisted of three successive steps: (i) show the necessity that the conclusion of the contract based on a set of contract parameters brings respective incentives to both of the supplier and retailer, (ii) present a mutual relationship between contract parameters of guaranteeing simultaneously optimalities of both of the supplier and retailer, and (iii) determine a unique combination of contract parameters using the Nash bargaining theory. Through successive steps (i)-(iii), some sets of contract parameters have been screened step by step, and eventually, an optimal set of contract parameters has been uniquely decided in step (iii) as a bargaining solution. However, the mathematical significance of respective conditions derived in steps (i) and (ii) for the bargaining solution of step (iii) has not been fully explained. Therefore, we reconsider respective roles of steps (i) and (ii) in the negotiation procedure based on a supply chain model including buyback contract. Then, we confirm the usefulness of the negotiation procedure consisting of three successive steps in the preceding studies.</p>

    Summary:<p>In recent years, under the limited information that the means and variances of the failure and repair times are just given, the method of evaluating MTTF in the two-component standby redundancy system with priority has been proposed. In this study, by expanding the idea to evaluate MTTF proposed in the previous research, an evaluation method for the variance of the failure times in the aforementioned system is established under the premise that the means and variances of the failure and repair times are just given. Through numerical verification, the usefulness of the evaluation method constructed in this study is reconfirmed.</p>

    Summary:© IMechE 2015. We consider a two-unit standby redundant system with priority. In the previous literature, the theoretical formulae for the MTTF of such a system have been obtained using the renewal theory in the condition that the probability distributions about failure and repair times have the respective explicit functions. However, it is sometimes impossible to calculate the MTTF of the system depending on the probability distributions in the case of using the theoretical formulae in the previous literature. In this paper, we consider the situation that the probability distributions about failure and repair times can be approximated as a mixed Erlang distribution. Under this situation, we develop a new approximation procedure for computing the MTTF of the system by combining some results of the Markov analysis based on Erlang distributions. Then, we investigate the validity of our proposed approximation by simulation.

    Summary:© 2015 Springer Science+Business Media New York As a problem in supply chain management, the decision problem of terms and conditions of a contract between a supplier and a retailer is recognized commonly. The concept of cooperative bargaining between a supplier and a retailer is the key concepts to resolve this problem in the supply chain. Then, the bargaining evaluation function by Nash in the game theory exists as a tool to obtain the solution by cooperation bargaining. The Nash bargaining solution is derived under the premise that a power balance between a supplier and a retailer is equal. However, the situation where the power balance between a supplier and a retailer in actual bargaining is not equal is supposed frequently. For the purpose of reflecting the power balance in obtaining the bargaining solution, the concept of a general bargaining solution was proposed and then the general bargaining evaluation function for obtaining the general bargaining solution was devised. However, in the case of adopting the general bargaining evaluation function as a bargaining tool, some problems are included. In this article, we address the problems in the general bargaining solution. Then, we propose a new concept of bargaining process to obtain a solution under considering the existence of power balance between a supplier and a retailer.

    Summary:A SN ratio is famous as a criterion for parameter design using the Taguchi method. In recent years, it has been revealed that the statistical feature of the SN ratio is described by a doubly non-central F distribution. Accordingly, the characteristics of the doubly non-central F distribution are gaining attention again. However, it is extremely difficult to theoretically and exactly evaluate a percentile for the doubly non-central F distribution since its probability density function is very complicated. Therefore, approximation techniques for evaluating the percentile have been conventionally studied. One of them, a method for approximating the doubly non-central F distribution using central F distribution based on the first three approximate moments in the doubly non-central F distribution has been devised. Further, an evaluation of the doubly non-central F distribution percentile based on Cornish-Fisher expansion using those approximate values of first three moments has been proposed. In this study, we calculate the accurate values of moments in doubly non-central F distribution, and then propose a new method for evaluating the percentile of the distribution using the accurate values of the first two moments. Through some numerical simulations, the effectiveness of our new proposal in this study is confirmed. In addition, as an application of our proposal, the confidence interval of the SN ratio is evaluated.

    Summary:In recent years, it has been indicated that the statistical feature of the SN ratio, which is famous as a criterion for parameter design using the Taguchi method, is described by a doubly non-central F distribution. Accordingly, the characteristics of the doubly non-central F distribution are gaining attention again. It should be noted that the cumulative distribution function of doubly non-central F distribution is shown based on the incomplete beta function or Gauss hypergeometric function. Since the computations for incomplete beta function and Gauss hypergeometric function are complex, approximations for evaluating the cumulative distribution function of the doubly non-central F distribution have been investigated. In this study, a new approximation for the cumulative distribution function of the doubly non-central F distribution is proposed. Through some numerical validation, the features of the proposed approximation are addressed.

    Summary:In general, the quality of items produced in a manufacturing process is not necessarily uniform, and it has stochastic variability. Control charts are basic tools for detecting a change in process conditions using the quality data with stochastic variability. When the assignable change in process conditions is detected by the control charts, identifying the time point of state change and searching for assignable causes are important issues in process management. In this study, first we develop the state transition tracking method for depicting the state transition and showing the change points using successive observed data. Then, we discuss a new procedure for monitoring the process conditions using the state transtion tracking method with the control charts.

    Summary:Probability inequalities are used as a means to evaluate the upper bounds of upper probability for an average of some random variables based on finite stochastic properties, excluding the probability distribution functions of respective random variables. Note that in the case of applying the probability inequality, it is not necessary for the population of each random variable to be identical. Of the existing probability inequalities, Hoeffding probability inequality is highly regarded as an excellent probability inequality from the viewpoint of performance. Hoeffding probability inequality evaluates the upper bounds of upper probability for an average of some random variables based on limited stochastic properties such as expectation, variance and codomain in each random variable. However, we consider that there is a room to improve the performance of Hoeffding probability inequality. In this study, we demonstrate a technique for improving the performance of Hoeffding probability inequality in the case that the population of each random variable is not always identical.

In this paper, we investigate an improvement in the basic continuous-review (<i>Q</i>, <i>r</i>) inventory model. Further, an additional procedure to obtain a feasible solution based on the continuous-review (<i>Q</i>, <i>r</i>) inventory model is proposed.

    Summary:The control chart is a primary tool of judging whether a manufacturing process is in-control or not. Especially, the T 2 control chart is known as a multivariate control chart that monitors a mean vector of several related quality characteristics.     Summary:Japan has to urgently build a new system for securing electric power supply including renewable energy and for saving electric power. The electricity demand and the electricity supply based on renewable energy are influenced by the weather. Thermal power generation may also be affected by equipment failure. Therefore, plotting of a plan is required to avoid electric power shortage under inaccurate prediction for supply and demand of electricity. In this article, we propose a probability evaluation system to avoid electricity shortage.     Summary:Process capability indices are widely used to provide the evaluation measure of a process. Especially, the process capability index C pm , which is defined by the range of the process standard specification limits and the deviation from a target value, is called the Taguchi index. Boyles has investigated the statistical characteristics of the estimator Ĉ pm and also proposed a technique for the C pm control chart. Since the process capability index C pm is based on the concept of the Taguchi's quality loss, the process capability index C pm already includes an economical concept. In this article, we evaluate an operating cost consisting of the sampling cost, the sample cost, and the quality loss of failing to detect an out-of-control state when the C pm control chart is used. Then, we derive an optimal operating plan by sample size and sampling interval in order to minimize the ceiling value of the operating cost based on the min-max criterion. © 2008 Springer-Verlag London Limited.

    Summary:Taguchi has proposed a variable-quality evaluation called "Taguchi's quality loss" instead of the attribute quality evaluation such as the proportion of nonconforming items. Arizono et al. have proposed a single acceptance sampling plan based on operating characteristics from the viewpoint of assuring Taguchi's quality loss. This sampling plan is designed to guarantee the constraints of the prescribed acceptance probabilities for respective lots with the allowable quality loss limit and the unallowable quality loss limit. However, in the acceptance sampling plan based on operating characteristics, the corrective action for rejected lot is not prescribed. On the other hand, the sampling inspection plan with screening is well known as the sampling scheme with the corrective action for rejected lots. Then, there is the attribute sampling inspection scheme with screening in order to guarantee the expectation of the proportion of nonconforming items in the shipping lot. However, the variable sampling inspection scheme with screening has not yet been prescribed. Then, in this article, we propose a variable sampling scheme with screening procedure for the purpose of assuring the upper limit of the maximum expected surplus loss indexed by Taguchi's loss. © 2008 Springer-Verlag London Limited.

    Summary:In the traditional design of reliability tests for assuring the mean time to failure (MTTF) in Weibull distribution with shape and scale parameters, it has been assumed that the shape parameter in the acceptable and rejectable populations is the same fixed number. For the purpose of expanding applicability of the reliability testing, Hisada and Arizono have developed a reliability sampling scheme for assuring MTTF in the Weibull distribution under the conditions that shape parameters in the both populations do not necessarily coincide, and are specified as interval values, respectively. Then, their reliability test is designed using the complete lifetime data. In general, the reliability testing based on the complete lifetime data requires the long testing time. As a consequence, the testing cost becomes sometimes expensive. In this paper, for the purpose of an economical plan of the reliability test, we consider the sudden death procedure for assuring MTTF in Weibull distribution with variational shape parameter. © 2007 Elsevier B.V.     Summary:Process capability indices are widely used to provide evaluation measures of process potential and performance. Especially, the process capability index C_<pm>, which is defined by the tolerance and deviation from the target, is called the Taguchi index. Boyles investigated the statistical characteristics of the C_<pm>, estimator, and also proposed a methodology for the C_<pm> control chart. Needless to say, since the process capability index C_<pm> is based on the concept of the quality loss introduced by Taguchi, it basically relates to the concept of cost performance. In this article, we consider the economical operation of the C_<pm> control chart in conformity with the expected total operation cost function based on the sampling cost, the sample cost and the surplus loss by means of ignoring the out-of-control state. Then, the economical operation of the C_<pm> control chart minimizing the total operation cost is investigated.

    Summary:The quality of a lot has sometimes been evaluated based on attribute properties such as the percentage of nonconforming items or the number of nonconforming items in the lot. On the other hand, Taguchi has proposed the concept of "quality loss" as the evaluation measure of quality of items based on variable properties. Concretely, Taguchi's loss function has been defined as a quadratic function based on the departure from the target value of an item. Recently, from the viewpoint of assuring the quality loss based on Taguchi's loss function, a single sampling inspection plan based on operating characteristics has been proposed. This sampling procedure has been designed for the purpose of assuring both the specified producer's risk for the lot with an acceptable quality loss limit and the consumer's risk for the lot with a rejectable quality loss limit. However, the disposition of the rejected lot isn't specifically declared in the sampling inspection plan mentioned above. While, there is a sampling inspection plan with screening by attribute in which the rejected lot in the sampling inspection is thoroughly inspected and nonconforming items are exchanged for conforming items or repaired. In this sampling procedure, the sampling plans have been designed for the purpose of assuring the percentage of nonconforming items in every lot and the upper limit of the average outgoing quality level as the average outgoing percentage of nonconforming items. In this article, the quality evaluation based on Taguchi's loss function is adopted instead of the quality evaluation based on the percentage of nonconforming items as lot quality. Then, we propose a single sampling inspection plan with screening by variable indexed by Taguchi's loss function for the purpose of assuring the upper limit of the maximum expected surplus loss.

    Summary:Recently, Chou et al. have considered the multivariate control chart for monitoring the process mean vector and covariance matrix for the related quality characteristics simultaneously by using log-likelihood ratio statistics. They have computed the approximation formula described with Bernoulli polynomials of degrees r≥30 by using software MATHEMATICA 4.0 for obtaining the control limit with sufficient accuracy for the specified type I error probability in the chart. However, they cannot have obtained the approximation formula for the power evaluation. By the way, Kanagawa et al. have proposed the (x̄, s)control chart for monitoring the mean and variance simultaneously based on Kullback-Leibler information when quality characteristics obey a univariate normal distribution. In this article, by adopting the procedure by Kanagawa et al., we propose the other approximation formula for determining simply the control limit with sufficient accuracy for the specified type I error probability.     Summary:Recently, the rapid growth of data-acquisition technology and the use of online computers for process monitoring have led to an increased interest in the simultaneous surveillance of several related quality characteristics or process variables. In general, related quality characteristics are assumed to be distributed as multivariate normal random variables. As a result, the multivariate control chart for the mean vector has been studied extensively in many works. Popularly, in the case that the quality characteristics are distributed as univariate normal random variables, the mean and variance are simultaneously treated as the objectives of surveillance. From this point, in the case that the quality characteristics are distributed as multivariate normal random variables, the mean vector and variance-covariance matrix should be simultaneously treated as the objectives of surveillance. Kanagawa et al. have proposed a (x^^-, s) simultaneous control chart that enables the user to monitor both changes in the mean and variance in a process simultaneously based on Kullback-Leibler information when the quality characteristics are distributed as univariate normal random variables. In this study, as an extension of the (x^^-, s) simultaneous control chart, we propose a multivariate (X^^-, S) simultaneous control chart that enables the user to monitor both changes in the mean vector and variance-covariance matrix simultaneously. Further, the evaluation of the power for the proposed multivariate (X^^-, S) simultaneous control chart is also considered.

    Summary:本研究では,k-out-of-n:G reoairable systemについて考察する.このk-out-of-n:G renairable systemに関する一般的な考察では,修理工がシステムの大きさに対応するだけ用意されており,かつそれぞれが同一の修復能力をもちシステム内に常駐している状況が扱われてきた.これに対して,本研究では常駐の修理工数が制限されており,この修理工と異なる修復能力をもつ緊急修理工が故障ユニット数の増減に応じて投入及び回収される状況を想定する.この状況のもとで,緊急修理工の投入及び回収の方策に対応するシステムアベイラビリティを評価する.加えて,緊急修理工の投入-回収に関する経済的方策についても言及する.

    Summary:The cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart is known to be sensitive to a slight change of the process quality characteristics. The design of this control chart is based on a series of cumulative sums of the statistic derived from the data. For normally distributed characteristics, it is necessary to monitor both changes of the mean and variance simultaneously. However, it is difficult to design a joint CUSUM x̄ - R or x̄ - s control chart using the statistics x̄ and s or R jointly. Kanagawa et al. proposed a (x̄, s) control chart which enables the user to monitor both changes of the mean and variance simultaneously based on one statistic for normally distributed characteristics. When the CUSUM control chart is considered based on the (x̄, s) control chart, it is possible to design and use the CUSUM control chart more easily than the joint CUSUM x̄ and either the R or s control charts. We consider a CUSUM (x̄, s) control chart in order to improve the performance for a slight change of the process quality characteristics. The economical operation of the CUSUM (x̄, s) control chart is also considered.

    Summary:Assume that lot quality characteristics obey a normal distribution. Kanagawa et al. have proposed the (x̄, s) control chart which enable the user to monitor both changes of the mean and variance simultaneously. Further, the results of Watakabe and Arizono enable the user to evaluate the performance for out-of-control state in the case of using the (x̄, s) control chart. On the other hand, Taguchi has presented an approach to quality improvement in which reduction of deviation from the target value is the guiding principle. In this approach, the loss is expressed as a quadratic form with respect to the difference between the measured value x of a product characteristic X and the target value T of a product quality characteristic. Then, we can evaluate the process quality based on the Taguchi's loss criterion. We consider here the economical operation of the (x̄, s) control chart in conformity with the expected total operation cost function based on the sampling cost and the loss due to derivation in the process quality. First, we consider the economical operation of the (x̄, s) control chart in the situation that the loss to be considered is known. Further, the economical operation of the (x̄, s) control chart is also discussed under any loss instead of a known loss. Then, the relationship between the two economical operations proposed here corresponds to the relationship between the lot tolerance per cent defective plans under the fixed fraction defective and the average outgoing quality limit plans under any fraction defective in rectifying inspection plans.

    Summary:The accelerated life tests can obtain information on life-time characteristics of products quickly. Then, the products can be submitted to higher levels of stress in various ways such as constant, step, and progress stress. In a constant-stress model, products are run under a constant level of stress until all products fail or a time limit is reached. A step-stress model allows the stress setting to be changed at a prescribed time or upon the occurrence of a fixed number of failures. In a progress-stress model, the stress is continuously increased over time. Until now, under the assumption of the functional relationship between the parameters of lifetime distribution and applied stress, there are many studies about parameter estimation using data obtained from an accelerated life test. In this study, instead of the parameter estimate problem, we consider a new design procedure of accelerated life tests based on the simple-step-stress model for assuring the mean time to failure (MTTF) at usual stress with specified producer and consumer risks under the condition that the parameters of the lifetime distribution at two stress levels are provided. The practical usage of the proposed design procedure is illustrated through some numerical examples.

    Summary:This article deals with the hypothesis test for the homogeneity of two normal populations. The likelihood ratio test is a usual method for such testing. In general theory, the asymptotic distribution of log-likelihood ratio statistics as testing statistics is well known under the null hypothesis, so we may design the test based on the asymptotic distribution. On one hand, the asymptotic distribution of log-likelihood ratio statistics is also considered under the alternative hypothesis. However, in the case that sample sizes are not so large, the asymptotic distributions are not so accurate under the arbitrary hypotheses. Recently, Arizono et al. have derived the cumulant generating function for the log-likelihood ratio statistics under the null hypothesis when the sample size is finite, and enabled to design accurately the null hypothesis test for homogeneity of two normal populations. However, the stochastic properties of log-likelihood ratio statistics under the alternative hypothesis and the power of testing have not been investigated in theory. Therefore, we consider the stochastic properties of log-likelihood ratio statistics under arbitrary hypotheses in this article. Concretely, the cumulant generating function for the log-likelihood ratio statistics and the cumulant of arbitrary order are derived under the arbitrary hypotheses when the sample size is finite. Further, by using the cumulants of log-likelihood ratio statistics derived in this article, we develop the approximation for the distribution of log-likelihood ratio statistics, and propose the theoretical evaluation of the power for the homogeneity hypothesis test.

    Summary:Reorder point determination is one of issues in inventory management. A reorder point is a trigger of timing in the replenishment. The reorder point is generally determined based on an allowable probability of stockout. The conventional design of the reorder point is frequently based on the assumption that demand is independently and identically distributed and then follows a normal distribution. In a real situation, it may be unbelievable that daily demand is identically distributed. Also, the assumption of normality for demand is not always appropriate. In this study, the decision procedure of the reorder point by using the limited demand information such as expectation and variance for demands is proposed. The reorder point meeting the specified allowable probability of stockout is derived by using some probability inequalities. Then, the usefulness of our proposal is shown through some numerical simulations.

    Summary:Taguchi has proposed the concept of the quality loss as the evaluation measure of quality of items based on the variable property instead of the attribute quality evaluation such as the proportion of nonconforming items. Then, Arizono et al. have proposed acceptance sampling plans based on operating characteristics in the viewpoint of assuring Taguchi's quality loss. Further, Morita, Arizono and Takemoto have proposed variable sampling inspection plans with screening for the purpose of assuring the upper limit of maximum expected surplus loss after inspection indexed by Taguchi's quality loss. However, in the variable sampling inspection plans with screening mentioned above, the minimization of the average total inspection (ATI) in the screening sampling scheme has not been considered. Hereby, in this article, the design procedures for variable sampling inspection plans with screening indexed by Taguchi's quality loss in order to minimize the ATI in conformity with the conventional attribute sampling inspection plans with screening called LTPD inspection scheme and AOQL inspection scheme are presented.

    Summary:本報告では,県立広島大学経営情報学部経営情報学科における,情報処理技術者試験の受験推進および合格支援の取組みと実績について報告する.まず,試験の概要と本学科の人材育成目標との関連を明確にする.次に,受験推進および合格支援のために行ってきた,Web 上の e ラーニングシステムを用いた課外学習のサポートなどの各取組みについて紹介する.さらに,受験状況ならびに合格状況から取組みの効果について検証し,今後の課題についても明らかにする.In this paper, we reported approaches and results of the promotion and supporting examinees of the Information Technology Engineers Examination in our department. First, relationships between outline of the examination and objective of our human resources development are clarified. Next, several approaches for examination promotion and supporting examinees such as the support of the extracurricular learning with an e-learning system on a Web are introduced. In addition, the effects of the approaches are verified from the examination situation, and its future problem is also clarified.

    Summary:本研究は,高大連携公開講座を念頭において経営情報学科が対象とする経営情報分野の教材開発を行い,その上で,教材をWeb上で公開するe-leamingシステムの構築と運用を行うものである。これまでに教材公開用サーバの設置および,試験的な教材コンテンツの開発を行った。教材コンテンツは現時点で6つの教材を開発し,公開または公開直前の状況である。今後は,教材コンテンツの改訂・追加の他に,開発した教材を公開講座と連携して活用することなどを計画している。

    Summary:JIS Q9000:2006において,検査は,「必要に応じて測定,試験またはゲージ合せを伴う,観察及び判定による適合性評価」として規定されている.従来の検査での適合・不適合による品質評価は,適合性を判定するための基準である要求事項が目標値と許容差であり,許容差内に品質特性値があるかどうかによるものであった.一方,適合・不適合の概念とは別に,Taguchi Methodとよばれる方法論によって提案された品質損失という概念が存在する.これを評価する一つの方法として損失関数が開発された.損失関数は製品および工程の開発・設計などの様々な場面での意思決定に応用されている.本稿では,品質損失を与える損失関数の検査への応用に関して論じる.まず,損失関数の検査への応用の方法について整理し,さらに筆者が研究を進める,品質損失を検査における保証の対象として想定した抜取検査に関する一連の研究について概説する.最後に,今後の展開について論じ,本稿を総括する.

Especially, we have shown an aspect of ripple effects of quality issues on the supply chain. For the purpose of preventing the issues, the contract techniques have been introduced. The contract has realized a risk hedge and provided the good performance. At the same time, we have proposed an approach to optimization of contracts.
