The benefits of extensive reading are countless, including becoming autonomous learners, gaining a substantial amount of comprehensible input, and experiencing positive effects not only on reading but also on other skills and grammar proficiency. However, due to individuals choosing different materials to read, practical implementation in the classroom can be quite challenging. This paper introduces methods to effectively bridge the gap between extensive reading and the detailed reading typically done in regular classes. Particularly, it suggests that positive outcomes can be achieved by assigning texts with similar thematic content, and highlights their potential impact.

In response to the fact that only 40% of university faculty and 30% of junior college instructors are utilizing e-learning, a survey was conducted to assess the awareness and utilization of IT among university educators. Using the web, a questionnaire survey was carried out employing the Likert scale method as well as open-ended responses. Through analysis using text mining, the results revealed that many instructors are concerned about facilities and student access, leading to their inability to implement e-learning practices. Additionally, it was identified that there are educators who are not familiar with IT. The survey provides suggestions and insights on how to more efficiently leverage teaching materials.

As part of the implementation of the new English curriculum at the university, cultivating reading proficiency holds great significance. As one of the strategies, a program centered around extensive reading was proposed. This paper elaborates on several teaching approaches using extensive reading, each developed independently by members of the team. In the new curriculum, extensive reading is also integrated into the assessment process, where students are tasked with answering comprehension questions related to the extensive reading materials on Moodle after completing the reading. Additionally, this paper introduces effective strategies for utilizing extensive reading, particularly focusing on post-reading instruction and utilization.

小学校英語学習者追跡調査の第2報。今回は実際に行った技能テストの内容を詳しく解説し、具体的な調査内容・実施方法を例示した。小学校英語学習者が例外なくリスニング能力が高いことが特筆される。

大阪地区における小学校英語学習者とその追跡調査の第1報。今回は小学校英語学習者・非学習者の中１・中２時の英語4技能の運用能力を比較する。特に、中1時点では、顕著な差が見られるが、学年が進むにつれて、差が小さくなるのは、小中の連携がうまく取れていないためではないかと推測した。

英語教育において、あまり焦点を当てられない、語彙学習の中の第2義習得について、英語学習者がどうすれば効果的に第2義を習得できるかを検証したものである。

小学校での英語教育がますます広まる中で、中学高校へとつながる教育が実施されているところは少ない。本シラバス試案では、一貫したシラバスが必要であるとの見地から、試案を提案する。

日本の小学校における英語教育の教科化を前提として、 現在諸外国で行われている小学校での外国語教育を 調査、比較研究したプロジェクトの報告第一報。今回は、 欧米諸国に焦点をあてる。

外国語を学習する際に、学習者にはどうしても母語に頼らざるを得ない時、母語を利用した方が効率的な場合がある故、母語の使用は全面的には禁止しない方が効果的な学習を行うことが出来る。
