- 吉野 成美『生駒経済論叢』 近畿大学経済学会 10 (2) 125 - 141 1348-8686 2012/11[概要] 本稿では, 19世紀イギリスにおいて活躍した女性文筆家,ハリエット・マーティノーが挑んだ最初の小説Deerbrookについて, イギリス家庭小説の系譜の中に入れてその内容を他の作品と比較検討している。Deerbrookは, ジェイン・オースティンの小説でもしばしば描かれる, いわゆる「姉妹もの」をプロットの中核にすえて物語が発展していく形をとるが, この小説のオリジナリティは, 姉妹の恋愛と結婚を描きながらも, 実のところ, 姉妹の相互依存と困難の克服を経て独立する過程にあることを本論では検証している。 [Abstract] This paper focuses on Harriet Martineau's first novel, Deerbrook, among the family novels of the nineteenth century England. Following the tradition of the contemporary novels, Deerbrook deals with two sisters' love romance and marriage, which is placed at the center of the story. Martineau's originality lies in the fact that she emphasizes the process of the two sisters' becoming independent, overcoming their difficulties and interdependent status in marriage life, rather than romantic episodes and plots of how they find their real love.
- 吉野 成美生駒経済論叢 近畿大学経済学会 8 (3) 165 - 184 1348-8686 2011/03[要旨] 本稿では, 対話教本作家としてのジェイン・マーセットがその会話教本シリーズをてがけるにあたって影響を受けたと思われる, 先達の教本作家マライア・エッジワースの教育論や, エイキンとバーボールドの『家庭の夕べ』を検証し, マーセットの教本との関連性を論じている。そして, 19世紀の英国におけるマーセットの教育者としての相対的立場を明らかにしたうえで, 彼女が確立した教本スタイルが後にどのように後続の科学教本作家に模倣されたかを考察する。 [Abstract] This paper mainly examines the process by which Jane Marcet established in her textbooks' popular style of Conversations, which seems to be influenced by the works of her predecessors, such as Edgeworth, Aikin, and Barbauld. - 吉野 成美Ikoma journal of economics 近畿大学経済学会 7 (3) 927 - 944 1348-8686 2010/03本稿は, ジェイン・マーセットが著した経済学に関する3冊の教本のうち最後に発表した『富と貧困』(1851)について, その内容を, マーセットが手がけた様々なテーマの教本類との関連性から考察している。一連のマーセット作品群は登場人物の名前やその設定から, 個々に独立していながらもそれぞれ緩やかなつながりが認められる。そして,一見, 種類の異なる作品である印象をもたれるはずの『富と貧困』も, 実はそのつながりの延長線上にあることを, 作品を精査していく過程で明らかにしていく。 （英文） This paper examines Rich and Poor (1851), Jane Marcet's third and last educational work on economics, in relation to her other books in different genres. Although each of her books stands as an individual work, careful examinations will reveal some relations found among the scenes and characters in those works, through which a small fictional community is formed. - 吉野 成美Ikoma journal of economics 近畿大学経済学会 6 (3) 225 - 246 1348-8686 2009/03本稿では経済学普及者としてのジェイン・マーセット(1769-1858)が, 彼女の後続者としてしばしば見なされるハリエット・マルティノー(1802-1876)に与えた影響を, 両作家のそれぞれの代表作を比較しながら考察している。 マーセットに関してはマルティノー自身が影響を受けたことを認めている『経済学対話』と『ジョン・ホプキンズ」を, また,マルティノーに関しては全9巻25話に及ぶ『経済学実例集」の全体の構成と, その中の特に一話を取り出して, 物語内容と特に対話形式を採用している部分についてマーセットの作品との相違点と類似点をそれぞれ指摘し, それぞれの作品内における経済学の位置づけと執筆者としてとった立場の違いを明らかにしている。 （英文） It is often said that Jane Marcet, well known as the first woman economics popularizer in England, had great influence on her follower, Harriet Martineau's main work, Illustrations of Political Economy. - Yoshino NarumiIkoma journal of economics Kinki University 5 (3) 273 - 292 1348-8686 2008/03This paper is about Jane Marcet's John Hopkins's Notions on Political Economy (1833), which was aimed at the laboring classes. The work consists of fairy tales and stories placing John Hopkins, a poor laborer, as the main character. The entertaining story-settings and forms must have contributed to the readers' acquiring the relatively hard theories of classical economists, such as Thomas Malthus. On the other hand, the ideology exposed in the stories supports the ruling class, to which Marcet herself belonged to.
