    Kaneyama Town pioneered the success of landscape town planning only with the voluntary ordinance. We surveyed the actual condition of the waterway network in Kaneyama Town. In addition, we grasped the process of waterway development. As a result, the waterway network consisted of two water systems. There were "Irimizu" in some places. The waterways were open ditch because it was used for snow flow. It was able to confirm the consciousness of residents that don't pollute the downstream of the water. In addition, unique efforts such as the "Kanayama-type housing" system led to the formation of today's landscape.

    In this study, there is a growing recognition that it is important to preserve and maintain traditional streetscapes nationwide in Japan, the awareness of actively maintaining the landscape is increasing, especially waterside villages around Lake Biwa in Shiga prefecture are increasing. Targeting villages, clarify the relationship between residents and water and the channel network, and create effective materials for promoting waterside town development nationwide.Seven villages were surveyed and classified into five waterway systems. There are two major canal systems, an irrigation canal and a drainage canal, but in Kamiogawa, a water utilization facility called KAWATO and KABATA are used together, which is a unique case where the canal is combines water supply and drainage. In addition, from the hearing survey, it is considered that the awareness of local governments and residents regarding water culture and whether or not artesian wells are used for the lives of residents influences the selection of important cultural landscapes. From the above, we believe that a wide range of cross sectional perspectives from both tangible factors and intangible factors are needed for future “waterside town development.” We hope that this research will lead to an increase in awareness of cultural landscapes in the future, and will contribute to useful materials in promoting waterside community development throughout the country, and will be useful to society.
  • A Study on the Evaluation Structure of Citizens and Students of Riverside Liberation in Hiroshima City

    In this paper, focus on commercial projects by private enterprises in the waterside of Hiroshima. We conducted some questionnaires survey on cognition and evaluation of citizens and students of outside cafe project in riverside of Hiroshima. It is aimed to grasp the evaluation structure for the efforts of liberation riverside in Hiroshima. As a result, the general public saw that awareness gradually increases as age goes up, and as a reason for that as a reason for living in Hiroshima for decades, the recognition of information to the liberation project of waterside in Hiroshima It is thought that it is obtained. Students may think that they will not go to the vicinity of the event in Motoyasu River, which is held at the weekend, but considering that there are many who said they would like to use it, the lack of dissemination of appeal is conceivable.
  • A Study on the Effects of Liberation of Waterside Considered Business Contents and the Number of Customers in Hiroshima City

    In this paper, I focus on commercial projects by private enterprises in the waterside in Hiroshima city. Use of eating and drinking facilities by private enterprises implementing projects up to the fiscal year 2016 reported from the beginning of the waterside social experiment in 2004 and examined the prospects for the future. As a result, only two waterside coffee shop were operating in 2004, but now it is found that ten waterside cafe are open. The business scheme of Hiroshima which collects funding money from waterside coffee shop are opening holds events such as concerts and illuminations using this funding money. However, in recent years it has come to consider the number of customers and events sluggish and consider new business development. Keywords: waterside, social experiment, outdoor café, liberation
  • Experimental Study on Main Point in Production of Rocket Stove for Heating

    A rocket stove is ecological and new facilities. However, there are few studies on rocket stoves. In this paper, we developed a rocket stove with heating facility and furniture function, and conducted an experiment on heating effect. Then, this is a fundamental study, which is to be useful for future rocket stoves development. From the results of each experiment, the heating performance of the rocket stove and points in the production are as follows. The important points for development of a rocket stove are these: thickness of an insulation material, cross-section area of a heat riser, inflow of air, reasonable dimensions ratio. However, it could not make comfortable indoor environment because the airtightness of a house is very low.
  • A Study on Transfer and Renovation Project of Thatched House and the Contribution of Students Workshop in Sera Town, Hiroshima

    In this paper, basic data on survey, disassembly, and design was collected and collected to convey roof technology to posterity. It is also a proposal to be able to live in the present age by refurbishing the interior, even with the roof of the thatched roof. From these facts I found the following. Local residents and students were able to help craftsmen at dismantling. If the state of the upper structural member is good, it is possible to make a proposal suitable for the current life without changing the main structural member of their roof. It is important to grasp the actual situation and to propose a new way of tavern houses suitable for the times in order to convey the technology of the roof. It is necessary to consider the method of knowing craftsmen and the mechanism of mutual aid in the present age, and it is thought that the student and the volunteer of the area are utilized in the workshop form for the maintenance and preservation of the private house.

  • AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SUSTAINABILITY OF RAINWATER-TANK USING NATURAL COOLING SYSTEM BY UNDERGROUND HEAT WITH READY-MADE DRUMS

    We experimented about the sustainability of rainwater tank using natural cooling system by underground heat with ready-made drums in a wooden experimental house. Before the experiment, we enlarged the experimental space bigger than before. Then we considered the sustainability of rainwater tank. The result is as follows. First, the room temperature maintained from 24 to 30.5 degrees for five days and a half day. Then the range of PMV score was -2.0 to +1.5. Next, the rainwater of a tank was used till it rose to 25 degrees, then cooled to the first temperature in about 3.5 days by underground heat. In addition, we can use a rainwater tank during about 1.5 days when the temperature is over 30 degrees. Therefore, we can cool 18 pieces of tatami space if there are four rainwater tanks.

    The thatched house is ecological and beautiful architecture. However, for being easy to burn, most thatched houses disappeared. Therefore, we investigated the conservation reality of thatched houses constructed by Geishu style in Kamo area. The result is as follows. There were 188 thatched houses in 2002, but decreased to 105 houses now. In addition, we grasped the house placement and inhabitants' evaluation. There are many thatched houses in the district where a professional of thatched house lives in. Then some houses will be conserved in future. However, these houses may disappear because a professional became old.

    In Japan, except for the part of the cold regions, it is common for the air-conditioning to be used only in the room where residents are there. Thus, large temperature difference is likely to occur between the rooms. The temperature difference has been pointed out as one of the causes of the heat shock. It is effective to use the 24-hours central air-conditioning system in order to eliminate the temperature difference. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze electricity rate and power consumption of 24-hours central air-conditioning system in warm region on the basis of long-term measurement for a detached house.

  • A Survey of Transformation by the Tourism Development of Waterside Village, SONGKHLA Lake in THAILAND

    There is a biggest lake which is named SONGKHLA Lake in southern area of Thailand. The lake is in sea mingled with fresh water area, but the depth of the water is shallow with 1.5-2.0m. In this lake, there is KOH YO Island. In this island, they push forward a homestay business. Therefore, I surveyed transformation by the tourism development of waterside village, and I heard consciousness of inhabitants. As a result, I knew that many houses were built on the lake for two years and the environment of the village suddenly changed. I think that the environment can't continue to exist.
  • A Study on Community Space around Durbar Spuare in KATHMANDU Valley, NEPAL -The function and the form of DHARMASALA in BHAKTAPUR-

    There are many Dhalmashala in the residential area around the durbar square in Katmandu valley, Nepal. Dhalmashala is important architecture for inhabitants. However, there is not detailed information about it. Therefore I investigated the function and the form of Dhalmashala. As a result, I understood next. Dhalmashala is distributed over the residential whole area. Now it is the community space which is important for inhabitants. Dhalmashala is the free break place that the wealth layer made for a pilgrim. It is also used for religious event. Dhalmashala has four kinds of "Pati" "Sattal" "Mandapa" "Chapat". I can classify pati in "independent type" "piloti type" "external type". And I can classify Sattal in "piloti type" "layered pagoda type" "house type".

    A study on natural cooling system by rainwater and underground heat with ready-made drums in a wooden experimental house is as follows. First, the temperature of rainwater before an experiment was about 15 degrees. Next, water temperature withdrew to about 16 degrees by underground heat in about 3 days after experiment. As a result of having used control of pump and tank, the room temperature maintained 24 - 29 degrees. And PMV maintained less than ±1. But, only by control of tank, we cannot continue this system.

    LIJIANG old city was registered in the world cultural heritage of UNESCO in 1997. The important element composition of the city is waterway space and places for supply of water. Therefore we investigated waterway space and places for supply of water, and got some characteristic of the waterway space. We summarize the result in the following. There is a strong axis to DRAGON MOUNTAIN. There are three waterways at old city entrance, and divided into a lot of small waterways in the down stream, and drained into a field. The waterways were polluted by act for supply of water. A form of waterway space and places for supply of water is divided into four types each. Therefore there are various street spaces.

    A study on natural heating and cooling system in a wooden experimental house is as follows. First, we made a floor cooling experiment with the rainwater cooled by underground heat in summer. Next, we made a floor heating experiment with the rainwater warmed by solar heat in winter. As a result, in summer the temperature on the floor fell by about 2 degrees and in winter rose by about 10 degrees.

    We think there are many valuable techniques which is able to improve the environmental performance in the traditional old house. Therefore, we investigated the space layout and environmental performance of IGURATSUKURI houses in KAMO area. As a result, we clarified some space layout techniques for climate characteristics of IGURATSUKURI houses, as follows: 1) technique to keep out the seasonal wind in winter and let in the seasonal wind in summer, 2) technique to use rooms in winter and summer, 3) technique to control sunlight by a double roof.

    In Southeast Asia, the water level change and periodical wind can threaten their lives at times. I think it important to grasp how they cope with natural wonder and live comfortably. Therefore, I surveyed "the location ofhouses" "the relocation of floating houses, removal and vocational change" "the structure of houses" "everyday life," and "the microclimate of houses"of the villages of Lake Tempe in Sulawesi Island. As a result, I clarified some corresponding techniques. For example, residents move their floating houses to the center of the lake in the dry season and to the shore in the wet season. If the water level goes down, residents move to the land housesand do farming.

    With an environmental problem, a social interest in the design technique (passive technique) by "PASSIVE SYSTEM" of the natural energy use has rises. However there is not the inclusive material now because "PASSIVE SYSTEM" is a new design technique. This study's purpose is investigation of the characteristic and the selection factors of the passive techniques from a houses using passive technique in a recent architectural magazines. First of all, the passive techniques were classified by every effect and use part from 187 examples. From there, we clarified qualitative characteristic of passive technique.Second, we indicated the selection factors that it was a scale and the main structure and ambient environment of the examples. Finally, we classified the examples into eight types by a technique combination because plural passive techniques were used in the examples. As a result, the examples were divided into two main systems. The one system was to control sunlight and ventilation by composition of room layout. The other system was to collect and save heat of sunlight by the part of architecture in winter.
